Prof. (Dr.) J.Kumar, M.Sc (Agri-Plant Pathology), Ph.D.

Vice Chancellor

Prof. (Dr.) J. Kumar, a visionary leader in agricultural sciences, holds an illustrious career spanning several decades. Prof. Kumar has over 40 years of experience in Agriculture Research, Education and Development/management. He has 40 Academic Distinctions/Awards/Honours in his name. He has got 21 ResearcDr. J. Kumar is an accomplished academic with an impressive educational background. He obtained his M.Sc. Agri. and Ph.D. degrees from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar, between 1975 and 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar held various positions, including Professor & Head of the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Dean of the College of Agriculture, GBPUAT, Vice-Chancellor of GBPUAT, Pantnagar, and Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun. Dr. Kumar has also served as a Post-doctoral Fellow & Project Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute, Philippines, from 1993 to 1996 and as a Visiting Scientist at various institutions, including the International Rice Research Institute, Philippines, in 1997, 1998, 2001, and 2002; Cornell University, USA, in 1999 and 2000; and INRA, France, in 2004. Dr. Kumar has been involved in 21 national and international competitive research projects, including multi-institutional and multi-faculty projects funded by national and international agencies. Dr. Kumar has published ten patents based on his research. Dr. Kumar has received numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding contributions to the field of agriculture. Some of his notable awards include the Prof. M. J. Narasimhan Academic Merit Award (1985), Jawahar Lal Nehru Award (1986), Pesticide India Award (1987), Uttarakhand Ratan Award (2007), Plant Pathology Leadership Award of Indian Phytopathological Society (2012), K.C.Mehta and Manoranjan Mitra Award of Indian Phytopathological Society (2015), Dr.T.S.Thind Life-Time Achievement Award of Indian Society of Plant Pathologists (ISPP) (2019), Life-Time Recognition Award of Confederation of Horticulture Associations of India (2020), and Uttarakhand Ratan Shri Award (2022). Dr Kumar is a Rockefeller Foundation (USA) Biotechnology Career Fellow (1998), Fellow of the National Academy of Agriculture Academy (NAAS) (2015), Fellow of the Confederation of Horticulture Associations of India (CHAI) (2019), and a Trustee of the Asian Agri-History Foundation. He has published over 120 refereed research papers/reviews in international/national journals, besides many book chapters, and proceeding articles. Dr. Kumar co-edited a four-volume publication titled "Plant Diseases of International Importance,” which was published by Prentice Hall, New Jersey, USA. He has also guided 25 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, several of whom have received awards.h grants during his career. He has to his credit of publishing over 174 Research Articles, Books and Monographs.

Dr. Ram Krishna Bhatt, ARS, FNIE, FRMSI, FISPP

Dr. R. K. Bhatt possesses 33 years of extensive experience in research, teaching, and extension across diverse domains including Applied Botany, Plant Physiology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Agroforestry, Plant Genetic Resources, and Seed Science & Technology. He has supervised 6 Ph.D. students as a major guide and contributed to the guidance of 15 students as a member of RAC. His contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Senior Award of the Academy for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences of ISPP, the ICAR Team Award, the CAZRI Institute Award, and the Veer Durgadas Award in the field of Agroforestry. Additionally, he has been honored as a fellow of the Indian Society for Plant Physiology and the National Institute of Ecology, along with the Range Management Society of India. Dr. Bhatt has demonstrated his global engagement through visits to seven countries including the USA, UK, Italy, Denmark, UAE (Dubai), China, and Vietnam. He has conducted numerous training programs, winter schools, and short courses as a Course Director. His leadership roles include serving as the President of the Indian Arid Zone Society of India, CAZRI, Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Vice President of the Indian Society of Plant Physiology, IARI, New Delhi during 2010, and Vice President of the Society for Science of Climate Change and Sustainable Environment, New Delhi from 2011 to 2013. He maintains active involvement in professional societies as a Life member of the Indian Society of Plant Physiology, Range Management Society of India, Indian Society of Agroforestry, Indian Society of Seed Research, National Institute of Ecology, The Society for Science of Climate Change and Sustainable Environment, and Arid Zone Society of India. Dr. Bhatt's prolific academic contributions include over 450 research papers, articles, and chapters in refereed National and International Journals, Books, Bulletins, Newsletters, Compendium, and Proceedings. Additionally, he has participated in and delivered scientific talks in National and International Seminars, Symposiums, Congresses, and workshops.

Mr. Anil Panwar, M.Sc Horticulture

Assistant Professor (ICAR-ASRB NET)

"Mr. Anil Panwar serves as an Assistant Professor cum Program Coordinator in the Department of Agriculture and Forestry at the School of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry. He holds a postgraduate degree in Horticulture from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, where he received a university scholarship and Graduate Teaching/Research Assistantship. Mr Panwar is also qualified in ICAR-ASRB-NET. With over 7 years of experience, he has contributed significantly to teaching and research in Agriculture and Forestry at the undergraduate level. Mr. Panwar is a life member of various professional societies including the Society for Promotion of Horticulture and the Indian Society of Horticultural Research and Development. Recognized for his contributions, Mr. Panwar received the Plant Science Excellence Research Award in 2020. His interests lie in Horticulture, Post Harvest Management, Food Processing, Greenhouse technology, and enhancing Agro-Horti techniques for the benefit of farming communities, particularly in urban and Himalayan regions. "

Dr. Nikki Nautiyal, M.Sc. (Biotechnology), Ph.D. (Genetics and Plant Breeding)

"Dr. Niki earned her M.Sc. in Biotechnology and Ph.D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar (Uttarakhand). With over 8 years of teaching and research experience, she qualified for the ICAR NET in 2014 and received a university scholarship during her doctoral studies. She has supervised 18 postgraduate and graduate theses. Her scholarly contributions are extensive, including 10 research papers, 8 popular articles in reputable national and international journals, and 5 book chapters published with Springer Nature/Taylor & Francis. She has authored 1 book and edited another. In recognition of her achievements, Dr. Niki received the prestigious ""Shikshak Shiromani Award"" in 2023 and the ""Young Women Scientist Achievement Award"" from the Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of Uttarakhand in 2023, during the Women Scientist Conclave 2023-2024. Her expertise lies in plant breeding and plant biotechnology. "

Mr. Vishal Warikoo, M.Tech ( Computer Sci.)

Mr. Vishal Warikoo holds a B.Tech from Punjab University and an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from UTU, Dehradun. With over 15 years of teaching experience and a year in the industrial sector, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his field. He is certified in Software Testing and specializes in Networking, Security Systems, Web Warehousing, and Database Handling. Throughout his career, Mr. Warikoo has actively participated in over 18 conferences and seminars, demonstrating his commitment to staying current in his field. Additionally, he holds Two National patent, showcasing his innovative contributions to the industry.

Ms. Hemlata Bhatt, M.Sc. Ag. Agroforestry (ICAR- NET)

Assistant Professor

Hemlata Bhatt holds a B.Sc. in Forestry and an M.Sc. in Agriculture Agroforestry from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Her research focused on the ""Performance of promising wheat varieties under Eucalyptus-based Agroforestry systems."" During her postgraduate studies, she received a Graduate Research Assistantship for the AICRP Agroforestry project and qualified for the ICAR-NET. With 7 years of teaching experience, she has actively participated in 4 seminars and workshops and has contributed to 1 research paper in reputable journals. Hemlata Bhatt's passion lies in the field of soil characteristics and its treatments for the growth of forest products.

Dr. Deepanshu Rana, M.Sc. & Ph.D. in Microbiology

Assistant Professor

Dr. Rana earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Microbiology from Gurukul Kangri (Deemed to be University), Hardwar, Uttarakhand, India. With 5 years of research and 3 years of teaching experience, Dr. Rana received the Young Scientist Award from SAAR, JNU in February 2020. He actively engages with the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) and its Haridwar Chapter. Dr. Rana's research interests span Gut Bacteria, Plant Metabolites, Secondary Metabolites, Microbe-Microbe Interaction, Antimicrobial agents, Ecological Niche, and Nanotechnology, with additional expertise in software tools such as RSM, BLAST, STATIXL, MEGA-X, Design expert, ADME, NEB Cutter, PyRx, ANI Calculator, and web-based bioinformatics tools. Notably, he has submitted 10 gene sequences in his name to the NCBI Database, USA. He has presented 11 research articles at various national and international conferences and has published 9 research articles, 3 review articles, and 5 book chapters. Additionally, Dr. Rana holds 2 patents and serves as a Co-Investigator in a USERC Funded Project.

Ms. Nisha Joshi, M.Sc. (Mathematics) & B.Ed.

Mrs. Nisha Joshi has received her M. Sc. Mathematics and B. Ed. From HNB Garhwal University, with six years of teaching experience. She is teaching mathematics to under graduate students since last five years. She also deals with subject like statistics.

Dr. Suhani Sabarhwal, M.Sc. (Hons) Botany 1994, Ph.D. (Botany) 2001, Panjab University, Chandigarh

Achievements include qualifying for GATE and CSIR-UGC NET, along with being awarded a University State Scholarship and the Rotary Foundation GSE (Group Study Exchange) to the United States in 2005. Post-doctoral experience encompasses active participation in National and International Scientific Workshops and Seminars, as well as contributions to refereed scientific journals and magazine publications. Additionally, authored several books covering topics in both Nature and Pharmaceuticals, published by esteemed national and international publishers. Actively engaged in establishing laboratories with modern infrastructure, conducting classes utilizing smart board technology, facilitating lab work with live specimens, and organizing educational excursions.

Dr.Rajbeer Singh, Ph.D. (Zoology)

Dr. Rajbeer Singh has completed M.Sc. In Zoology from D.B.S PG College Dehradun and Ph.D from HNB Garhwal University. His specialisation is in Environmental biology and Freshwater Diatoms. He has published dour papers and 4 papers are communicated.

Ms. Garima Singh, M. Sc. (Zoology), M. Phil. (Avian-Chronobiology)

Ms. Garima Singh completed her M. Phil. in 2017, specialization with chronobiology entitled “Circadian rhythm in passerine finches’’ to study the locomotory behaviour in terms of migration in different photoperiod of Emberiza bruniceps, Lunchura malacca malacca, Ploceous philippines. Her area of expertise in her Ph. D. is Ornithology, Chronobiology, Zoo semiotics, Ethology, Avian-Acoustics and Behavioural Ecology. She has 10 Research Articles, 04 book chapter with reputed publishers. She has worked as JRF in Drug Standardization Research Institute, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi (20 8-2019). She completed a SERB funded project from Zoological Survey of India, Dehradun entitled “Microstructure, individual and sub-species variation in Indian Robin (Cosychus fulicatus L.) in association of Ph. D. (Since 2019). She has also experienced of collection of acoustical evidences with territorial aspects of 04 sub-species of Indian robin from Himalayan foothills (Northern population), Tamilnadu (Southern population), West Bengal (Eastern population), Maharashtra (Central population) and also hands on training of Animal Handling and Dosing in Pathology Laboratory, LLRM Medical College Campus, Meerut. Her learned skillis in Avisoft SAS-Lab Pro, Q- GIS, Raven-Pro, SPSS 16.0, Google-Earth Pro. She has delivered 09 invited/oral talks and awarded Best Oral Presentation and attended several International conference and training programs, one of them is “Regional training on Lab-based quality control for Traditional/ Herbal products for the WHO South East Asia Region organized by WHO SEARO, Pharmacopeia Commission, Gov. of India. She is life member of “Ethological society of India” and “Association of Avian biologist in India”.

Ms. Vidhi Tiwari, M. A (Mathematics)

Ms. Vidhi Tiwari has completed her B. A from MKPPG College, Dehradun and M. A. From DAVPG College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Her specialization is in Mathematics. She is teaching mathematics and deals with statistics subjects also to the under graduate students. She has 1 year teaching experience.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar, M.Sc. Ag. (Horticulture). Ph.D Horticulture (Vegetable Science) (ASRB – NET)

He has done his M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture & Ph.D Horticulture (Vegetable Science) from G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand). He has done Research on Influence of Nitrogen & Plant Spacing on edible leaf, seed yield quality of vegetable Amaranth (Amaranthus spp). He has having two years of teaching experience at the department of Agriculture as a Assistant Professor in Maya Group of College Selaqui, Dehradun and Published four Research papers & participated in five International & National conferences. He has awarded with student excellence award at G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand).

Ms. Neha Joshi, BBA, MBA (HR)

Currently she is working as a assistant professor in department since last two years in different subject i.e, Agri- Economics, Agribusiness, Busniness Commication skills and Agriculture finance. She has done her BBA in H.R and Marketing and M.B.A in Human Resourse from Uttarakhand Technical University Uttarakhand. She has One years of industrial Experience and ten years of teaching experience in management. She also guide the agriculture and forestry students on different modules of student READY programme especially on Market survey, Analysis, Marketing proposal, production report and documentation and report evaluation. She has also one year pg diploma in business entrepreneurship from Entrepreneurship development institute of India, Ahmadabad, Gujarat and also attend national and international seminar on this same. Dr. Vinod Kumar Dubey, M.Sc. (Agricultural Entomology), Ph.D. (Entomology)

Dr. V. K. Dubey holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar, India. He completed his M.Sc. in Agricultural Entomology from KeladiShivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga, Karnataka, India, and his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. With accolades including qualifications in ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, and ASRB-NET, Dr. Dubey has participated in numerous international and national conferences and training programs. His scholarly contributions include 5 abstracts, 1 book, 10 book chapters published with Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier, and over 10 popular articles and newsletters. Moreover, he has authored 11 research articles and 3 review articles with esteemed publishers like Frontiers, Magnolia Press, and Elsevier. As a life member of the Association for Advancement of Pest Management in Horticultural Ecosystem (AAPMHE) and The Indian Science Congress Association, Dr. Dubey is actively engaged in the field. His expertise lies in insect taxonomy, insect toxicology, and pesticide residue analysis.
